  6. Count Basie was one of those bands which I find I enjoy the live air-checks much more than the studio recordings. Basie swings like nobody's business and even invites Harry James to play "King Porter Stomp" on one of the tracks. A wonderful look of what Saturday evening dance band programs were like in the 30s and 40s.
